Langley Thunder coach Rod Jensen insists his one-game forced vacation from the Western Lacrosse Association final had its positives.

The league suspended Jensen for Game 4 between the Thunder and the Coquitlam Adanacs Saturday due to his role in a brouhaha between his team and a Coquitlam fan at the end of Game 3 last Thursday.

Langley won 8-7 in double overtime without Jensen to go up 3-1 in the best-of-seven provincial finale, and can clinch the series tonight with him on the bench in Langley (7:45 p.m. start).

“It was difficult on one hand, but it was beneficial on the other, because I saw some things that I think we can expose,” said Jensen. “You see one thing watching film, but, watching from the stands, you see something else.”

As for the episode with the fan, Jensen said: “I have to tone it down. The players don’t need their coach becoming involved.”

The Thunder are the reigning champions and finished in top spot in the regular season. Coquitlam was third. The series winner travels to Ontario to meet their provincial champions, the Peterborough Lakers, in the Mann Cup national finale.

Here’s a Peterborough Examiner story on them clinching the Ontario title.
